I had a nice, mostly quiet weekend this weekend. Most weekends in Pavia are quite quiet. (Which is why I am planning a trip for next weekend!) On Saturday I didn't do much in the morning because everyone was sleeping late recovering from Friday night. I hate that because I always wake up early anyway so it gets really boring!! Finally in the afternoon when everyone was awake we all hung out. There was a historical walking tour of Pavia with the student group so I went on that. It was nice to hear some of the history of Pavia. Pavia has a ton of history! Although the tour was in Italian so I only got some bits and pieces of the history. It was nice to walk around the city and it was a very nice day out as well. Plus Amy and I got to listen to our friend Kostas talk about all his problems. He has a Greek accent and it is so thick that everything he says is hilarious. But he is also very upbeat and friendly. He is obsessed with the movie The Bodyguard. It is so funny! He totally wants to be Kevin Costner. After the walk the majority of the group and I went to a gelateria. The line was very long though so my friend Amy and I decided to just go to the city center to have aperitif. There was some sort of event going on as well so there was also live music. It was nice to enjoy some little appetizers and a drink and listen to live music. Then in the evening I got invited to go to dinner at one of my friend's houses but he lives 45 minutes by walking away so I decided to stay in. God I miss having a car!!! It sucks taking the bus or walking everywhere. Especially because the bus ends at 9.... and where I live is soooo far from everything. So instead I stayed in and Ali cooked me Lebanese chicken. Delicious!! Then I just hung out and went to sleep pretty early since I woke up at 5:30 a.m to talk to everyone at Bear's birthday party! I had to get some sleep in. But it was nice to talk to everyone at the same time. <3 Then on Sunday I was going to plan a small party at the park but then the weather wasn't very good. So we decided not to go. Instead I went to the piadineria to hang out with Ali and Giada. Afterwords when I was walking back home I ran into Kostas and Angelina, another Greek girl. They invited me to go on a walk with them on the other side of the river so I decided to join. I was wearing high heel boots so it was a bit difficult but still fun. It was nice to walk to an area I hadn't really seen before. After our walk the three of us went to a cafe where I tried some delicious Italian wine since I don't drink coffee. Those are the things people drink here....wine or coffee. I was happy we were able to find somewhere that was open though. Pavia is like a ghost town on Sundays. There is almost nothing open at all. We hung out at the cafe for a while. Eventually some other people Johannes (Austria), Benjamin (Hungarian), and Tugce (Turkish) met us at the cafe. It was nice to just sit outside and enjoy each other's company. That is what Sunday in Pavia is about. When we were walking back Ali called me and told me that he changed the license plate on Piero's scooter to the updated on, meaning that two people could go on. So Ali met me at the Piazza Minerva and took for a long ride on the scooter. It was soooo fun!! I really want a scooter. We went around all the outskirts of Pavia for about 45 minutes. My face was starting to hurt from smiling so much! When I returned home I took a shower and then went downstairs to have dinner with Kostas and Angelina. Kostas cooked us pasta with pesto. I am normally not a huge fan of pesto I just think it is alright but even the pesto from a jar in Italy is AMAZING. It was delicious! I am so glad I met Angelina, we are so similar. We like a ton of the same music, tv shows, books and we both want to travel all around Italy. So I am really happy I met her.
Today I had class and then I went to lunch with Andrew, one of the other Americans. It is raining so now I am just back in my room. I am going to read one of my books. If its not raining tonight I may go out with Karolina, Paulina, Amy, & Jess to a party at Nirvana. But Jess & I live so far so we are still deciding, but it mainly depends on the rain since it is a 40 minute walk. Gettin my exercise here in Pavia!
